A family tour of Gaspésie
Day 1: Arrival in Gaspésie
After being briefed by the welcoming team, and with your Riôtel dollars and GPS in hand, you’re ready for your great adventure. In Matane, look out for the salmon fishers and the fish-pass in the centre of town. Got polarized lenses? You might be able to see the salmon making their way upriver.Take the opportunity to use the pool and Spa after a day of driving!

Day 2: Windmills, deer-watching and a wildlife reserve
For today, François suggests some activities that are close to his children’s hearts: a visit to the wind turbines at Saint-Ulric, the Seigneurie du Chevreil d’Émilie or a day at the Matane Wildlife Reserve.

Day 3: More fishy business
Exploramer will enchant any child.Here they can dip their fingers into the “touching” pools and get close up to various varieties of crustaceans, mollusks and sea urchins. The aquariums and pools are home to numerous varieties of fish and anemones from the St. Lawrence River. Excursions out to sea are also possible. With your GPS, set off in search of a hidden treasure that will reveal some secrets to you. Enjoy a picnic in the Gaspésie National Park (ask about our boxed lunch service the day before your departure). A stop at the Sainte-Anne waterfalls will delight the whole family.

Day 4: A Gaspesian zoological garden
Moose, woodland caribou, black bears, eastern cougars, harbour seals: in all, some 28 species of animals await you at the Bonaventure Bioparc. In the afternoon, head towards Percé and en route make a stop at Hope beach. This is a little corner of paradise where you can relax and swim if the weather permits.

Day 5: Camera safari out at sea
Head out into the blue for a camera safari that is simply unbeatable! Choose between whale watching or spotting northern gannet at the national park of Île-Bonaventure-
et-du-Rocher-Percé. A truly memorable experience! Percé is a place that will leave you with many wonderful memories. Make time to browse through the charming stores. You can do a lot of exploring in this area with your GPS.

Day 6: Close-up with the seals
On your way to Matane, the Forillon National Park is an essential stop, and there’s a good chance you might see some whales from the shore. The very knowledgeable park guides will tell you all about the marine life on the seabed, as well as the geology and history of the area. Try the favorite activity of the Rioux family: seal-spotting on the sea!There are plenty to meet at Forillon. Combine learning and observation in a really fascinating 90-minute tour – and bring your binoculars! On the way back, stop at the La Martre lighthouse, one of the great sights in Gaspésie. On this last day, you can also enjoy a treasure hunt with your GPS. We hope you’ll prove to be intrepid explorers and find the treasure! Best of luck!
