Getaway: Percé’s musts

Percé is a world-famous heritage jewel, and your trip to the Gaspé Peninsula just wouldn’t be complete without stopping off to see it! We’ve selected three things you must see when visiting Percé: first, the Parc National de l’Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé, the emblem of Quebec tourism! Next, the Émeraudes River, an incredible place to swim! Finally, the people! Don’t hesitate to visit the local stores or talk to fisherman at the dock… Gaspésians are known for their warm welcome!

Day 1

Parc National de l’Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé

Take a boat trip out to the Parc National de l’Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé. You can get off at Bonaventure Island to admire the impressive Northern Gannet colony, which is one of the largest in the world. The park is separated into four sections so visitors can discover, appreciate, love, preserve and protect this exceptional location. On the evening head down to the dock and watch the fishermen at work! Why not try your hand at mackerel fishing?

Day 3

Percé’s beaches

Percé’s beaches are the perfect places to collect colourful stones, including agate and jasper. Explore the beaches in Coin-du-Banc and Cap-d’Espoir and see what you can find. Then head to the Émeraudes River, which is located in an old quarry. There are several different hiking trails that lead to waterfalls and it truly is a spectacular swimming spot.
